Windows XP doesn't play DVDs by default. Most solutions cost $10-20, which is too much to pay for basic functionality that should be included in the first place. VLC installs and plays DVDs and a bunch of other video formats right away. Simple to use and works well. What more could you ask for? (One users opinion)
